Oriole Resources PLC has announced notable gold discoveries at its Mbe prospect in northern Cameroon, signaling progress in its ongoing exploration efforts in the underexplored West African nation. The findings stem from a trenching program within the Bibemi project area, which uncovered continuous gold-bearing zones and reinforced Mbe’s potential as a high-priority target for the company.
Trenching results included 12 meters grading 1.31 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 18 meters grading 1.17 g/t gold, highlighting the prospect’s potential for further development. These intersections indicate the presence of near-surface gold mineralization, a promising indicator for follow-up drilling to assess deeper extensions of the deposit.
Mbe, part of Oriole’s flagship Bibemi project, is gaining attention for its strategic significance in Cameroon’s largely untapped gold sector. While much of West Africa has long been a focus for international miners, Cameroon remains on the margins of the region’s gold rush. Oriole’s work at Bibemi, including Mbe, aims to place the country on the map for investors seeking new opportunities in precious metals exploration.
The trenching data provides a foundation for Oriole’s next phase of exploration as it seeks to delineate the deposit’s full potential. Located in an area with limited historic exploration, Mbe is viewed as a highly prospective site with significant room for resource growth. The company plans to commence drilling in the identified zones, targeting mineralization at depth to better understand the scale and grade of the deposit.
This development comes as Oriole continues to focus on advancing early-stage exploration projects in Cameroon, leveraging its technical expertise to open new frontiers in the country’s mining industry.
