The Raw Materials Week, Europe’s flagship policy event on raw materials, returns to Brussels from 9 to 13 December 2024, hosted by the European Commission. Since its inception in 2016, this premier gathering has drawn over 1,000 participants annually, including industry leaders, policy-makers, researchers, academics, and civil society, making it the definitive forum for shaping the future of Europe’s raw materials strategy.
As global demand for critical raw materials surges, the European Union continues to lead the way in securing sustainable and innovative access to these essential resources. Through domestic resource development, strategic international partnerships, recycling, and circular economy initiatives, Europe is setting the benchmark for responsible sourcing while demonstrating its position as a global powerhouse in the raw materials value chain. 
Raw Materials Week 2024 will spotlight cutting-edge topics shaping the future of raw materials in Europe and beyond. Distinguished speakers and thought leaders from strategic sectors such as batteries, digital technologies, defense, and space will deliver insights on critical issues. Key discussions will cover derisking raw materials projects through EU and member state funding, driving innovation with advanced technologies, increasing domestic supply, enhancing circularity with rare earth permanent magnets, and addressing market trends while maintaining the highest environmental and social standards.
